View Full Version : URI Handler for TOTEM

It's ironic, I can play DVD's but not VCD's, the latter being the common format used by majority of video rental shops.

Any ideas on how I can get VCD's to play in TOTEM? I keep getting these error messages:

Totem could not play 'vcd:///media/cdrom0'.
No URI handler implemented for "vcd".

I presume I need a package that has to do with the second line of the error message...

I've already downloaded and installed all of the gstreamer plugins, including those not listed in the "Restricted Formats" article in Ubuntu's online help.

Help, anyone?

I have xine installed as well, but I can't get it to play VCD's. Same problem as totem... the URI handler for VCDs is a package I need to find.

thats cos totem sucks

uninstall totem ( whatever version - gstreamer or xine )

and install GXINE from repository

it plays everything superbly
