I am running Hitman Contracts through wine, it installed fine and loads but amazingly (and not in the good way) slowly. I get the following errors, I believe it has to do with Direct 3d.

Have you tried this?

www.transgaming.com/

It's a custom version of wine just for playing games. Does DirectX pretty well. Costs a little but very cool.

nooooooooooooo
dont do it
transgaming cares of nothing but money, so they spout lies about "great combatibility"
well, i have gotten about twice as many games running in wine as i did in cedega
cedega took from wine and never gave back, and decided to cheat people out of their money, do us all a favour and dont buy cedega

I have to agree with thunderduck. I tried Cedega and had very few games that would run under it. Wine is better and even Crossover would run some games that Cedega would not. Good luck.

The only game I really play with cedega is Battlefield 1942, have you tried this with wine or crossover?

Another game is Empire Earth, I've been complaining to transgaming for ages to do something about it, but they just ignore me :(

They had a vote a few months ago on whether to give something back to the wine project, I'm guessing they didn't!

I might as well stop my subscription because nothing really changes. Although the interface just improved with the new games database stuff, the engines keep getting worse in the case of BF1942 and I use an older engine.

I don't understand why old stuff stops when they make a new engine!

Regards, Kev :)
