encrypt shared partition

Hi all,

I have a dual boot win7 and lubuntu 12.10
Is it possible to encrypt a shared partition?
It is D:\ in win7 and /mnt/data in ubuntu.
If I can encrypt it, with which OS would I need to do this?
Will win7 recognize my partition if i encrypt it with ubuntu and will it be able to decrypt it?
Or do I have to get some encryption tool for win7?
