No HUD Ubuntu 12.04

Did a recent install of Ubuntu 12.04, and there is no HUD. Tap ALT key and nothing happens. Tried this:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-team/hud
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. On the first command It said it could not access PPA. Do I need to add something?

Reinstall.
There is no need to add a ppa for hud on precise.
If the hud is not working then something is a miss.
