If a native linux version of battlefield 2 was released, how many of you would consider purchasing it? If say its pricing was similar to that of its Windows counterpart.

I need to get real stats here, so its a serious question.

I would definately buy it without question.

I would buy it immediately. Also it would be just about enough for me to delete my XP partition. The Battlefield series is the only set of pc games that has really kept me coming back.

One thing I would like to see would be a new BF1942 or BF Vietnam. BF2 is clearly superior with running, reflective & penetrative damage, ducking in turrets, etc. but the background of an unspecified conflict between the US and the Middle East or China seems a bit souless and close to fact right now. I liked the background of 1942 and Vietnam much better. The WWII mod for BF Vietnam was a personal favourite for this very reason. It looked as good a Vietnam but you could torpedo US carriers in a Zero or strafe Japanese landing craft in a Mustang. It was part game and part history lesson in many ways.

I don't think my laptop will be able to run it... So I wont buy it.
I would prefer spore to be released for Linux, but I don't think there is a change of that happening :(.

It's not going to happen.
I wish it would - but it's not gonna happen. Not enough users.

EA are not interested in Linux for anything other than servers.
The nearest you *might* get is EA releasing a version of wine that will allow you to play the games on linux.

Does it only work in single player &or non punkbuster servers?
I thought Punkbuster wasn't working properly still?

I wouldn't. They screwed GF4 owners on the only purpose of forcing them to buy a newer card.
I'll never forgive this.

I'll buy BF2 if it came out for linux, though I've already bought the windows BF2 so buying another copy wouldn't make much sense (especially because I'dd be dumping windows, making the windows game kind of worthless).

Though I think that I would still buy it...specially if there was some kind of small discount if you already bought the game.

Manual updating punkbuster works fine online, but YMMV.

I'd buy BF2 for Linux, if only to show that we are out here, waiting.

That would be awesome. I would definitely buy. I really wish EA would embrace Linux, they make a lot of great games.

It will install and run under Cedega...I have not tried to run it under WINE.

I would definately buy it, I went out and bought quake4 even though my machine is un-worthy, I bought q3, and ut2004 so yeah.

I would probably buy it.

I wish more developers would develop for Linux. id Software's been doing that for a while now, I like that, and I wish more would follow their lead. I know it's a little different developing for OpenGL than for DirectX, but if they did it they could develop for all platforms and eliminate any extra cost from hiring a porting house, and widen their userbase.

It'd be awesome if they sold Battlefield 2142 for Linux - that looks like it'll be pretty sweet!

Yes, I'd buy it for sure :D
If it's as painless as UT2004 (and patches) to install, absolutely!

Only thing about EA that I don't like is all their annoying cut-scenes that play when you start the game (... but then again, they're not too hard to remove).

I think jumpnbump is the best linux game. Just don't play it too much while your girlfriend is in the next room with a bad hangover.
