I just installed Frozen Bubble from the APT repository provided by ubuntu and when I ran it, it gave me this error:

[*ERROR*] the datafiles seem to be missing! (could not read '@DATADIR/frozen-bubble/gfx')
The datafiles need to go to '@DATADIR/frozen-bubble'.

I think the datadir is /usr/share/ then I went to the frozen-bubble directory, everything was there, even there's everything in the gfx folder.

PLEASE HELP!! This only happens on UBUNTU, never happened on other distros that I have.

Did you install frozen-bubble-data as well as frozen-bubble?

You may also want to check to see if you have any custom levels in the .fblevels directory (not sure of the actual spelling) as this will also crash frozen bubble. (This happened on my girlfriend's PC)

Nope, I installed the frozen-bubble-data and reinstalled it with frozen-bubble and since this is a fresh install, nothing...

It still gives me this error.

You could always try the Microsoft method.
De-Install and Re-Install.
I have installed FB on both my laptop and my wife's desktop on both Hoary and Warty and had no problems. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
