I've set up a file/webgallery server using Ubuntu and Apache2. Lately I've been thinking about making a streaming media server using GNUMP3d. My question is, what can I do with GNUMP3d? Does it work like an internet radio station or does the user select which song to play? I've looked around on the forums and google, but I haven't been able to get a real answer.

You can either stream it or download from gnump3d. They select what song(s) to listen too. It can select 20 to 100 random songs or they can make a custom list.
I used gnump3d for a couple years and its good but not completely secure. If someone knows the directory structure, I believe they can d/l your mp3s.
I just switched to ampache and like it.
Both are good.
