It was working yesterday but today the server list is empty. Does this mean the server that contains the server list is down? It's not my fire-wall or set-up that I know of, but to be sure I just opened the specific ET ports on my router.

Its just a random bug, if the main server would be down noone could play in any servers. Try reinstalling, it might work but most people on windows use external server browsers like All the seeing eye and HLSW. Ive gotten HLSW running under wine but you need to know some ip-s of the servers first. ASE tends to delete favorites quite often

Well it must be down because I can't get ET: True Combat, ET: F or ET to pull up a server list.

Started tty console (use +set ttycon 0 to disable)
Resolving etmaster.idsoftware.com

Requesting servers from the master...

so....

$ ping etmaster.idsoftware.com
PING etmaster.idsoftware.com (192.246.40.60) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- etmaster.idsoftware.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 9000ms

Though, it seems I can ping that server from my own server at a different geographical location so I must just be having a network issue with mediacom.

Try using XQF as a server browser.

babahahahaha Just got off the line with Mediacom. O M F G. First time I called I get put on hold for 5 minutes, get a tech on the line, tell him my problem and get put on hold for 15 minutes then am transfered to the survey and disconnected. So ... I called back. Now I get the "I ping your modem and it looks fine" crap. Ok, well a PING isn't going to tell you why I can only upload at 30k and download at 700k. I told her a damn modem uploads faster than my crappy cable modem. She tells me to run a speed test from speakeasy.net. hahah ok.. uh. No that's worthless but whatever.
So she sends me instructions to do a speed test and email them to tech support. GREAT. but you know what? It isn't going to matter when they learn I'm running Linux because they don't support it.
I told her that I've had this problem with 3 different routers, 4 different computers and 3 different operating systems including an xbox. I don't think she knows what the hell an operating system is at this point but to me it seems logical that if ALL of these very different systems exhibit the same crappy speeds that it MUST NOT BE MY HARDWARE since ALL of it has been replaced at some point or another and I've had this problem since day 1 about 2 years ago. She's a bit thick. I'll run they're little tests when I get home and send them the results but I don't expect I'll ever hear from them again.

Damn my adhd..lol it was moblock. I removed that (since I don't much torrent anyway). No way mediacom would've caught that issue.
