Hi All. I require the new version of hplip that is on the hp website as the version in the repos will not support my printer. On the hp site there is a download and instructions for ubuntu, but nothing referring to kubuntu. I'm just wondering if that will install in kubuntu, and if not, does anyone have a guide or link they could provide me to install it. The file works in ubuntu (another pc) but i need it on my kubuntu install also. Thank you.

Is it a .deb file or not? If it is, then you can install it in Kubuntu just by double-click.

Have you tried to install to install that on Kubuntu, what is the output?

It's a shell script that you run in terminal to install. HP has tailored versions for different distros, ubuntu being one of them. It will remove old version of hplip, and install the newer version. Kubuntu isn't on the list. I haven't tried to install it yet, without seeing if anyone else has already tried it first. I'm using Kubuntu 12.10.
