Sooo Glad to have a sparc forum!!
I have just got a sun netra 1125 (just an ultra 60 in disguise) and need some guidance.
Which ISO do i need to get a hold of for this machine? Is there any information on linux kernel support for an ultrasparc II?

Keen to get into it as i have been using Ubuntu exclusively for almost a year now on a i386.

Regards

Well someone else here posted that it works well on their ultra 60.

Do you want a server or desktop install ? Use either the server or alternate iso.

As far as I know there is only one SPARC image (http://releases.ubuntu.com/6.06/ubuntu-6.06-server-sparc.iso). There is quite a lot of information on Linux SPARC support. The parent project (http://www.debian.org) has a page about the SPARC support (http://www.debian.org/ports/sparc/) and the same applies for Ubuntu I believe: Userland is 32bit but you can run a 64bit kernel on it which translates between 32bit and 64bit internally.

Has anyone tried an install on an Sun Ultra 2 with internal SBus and UPA instead of the pci based internals found in the ultra 10 and ultra 60 ?

I have only ever run Debian on the Ultra 2, haven't attempted to install Ubuntu on it ... yet ;o)

I'd be interested to see how it goes for you.
