Oh mighty Ubuntu aficionados, ):P, I call upon thee with a couple general questions which my fifteen-minute Google querying weren't able to answer.

If you're on a limited data plan--that is basically any new mobile plan nowadays--what is the best way to conserve data? More specifically, would using text-based browsing such as Links help? Is there a framework in place for this (perhaps the good people who do the Ubuntu Mobile stuff might have some insights here).

I've been an Ubuntu user for a while, since 8.10. Good ole days those were. And I just ordered a Virgin Mobile hotspot for myself, which I will squeeze the ever-loving data limit out of.

Any hints, advice, or discussion (don't be shy with the back-of-the-head slaps accompanied with links to this issue posted elsewhere already) would be awesome! Thanks so much everyone.
