I have a netbook that was running XP. It caught a virus. I uses DOD Twister to zap the hard drive and I also destroyed the Master Boot Record and reinstalled it for XP. The virus came back so it must have something in the bios. Because of this I switched to Ubuntu. I thought that Ubuntu would prevent viruses from reading my credit card number etc. I used DASH to get CHROME. I ran my system for a week opening and closing my netbook without restarting. One day chrome just disappeared from the program strip on the left of the screen. Is Ubuntu susceptible to viruses or did I try its patients by opening and closing the netbook too many times (I guess I broke it). Doing a restart seemed to restore things ok. Thanks. Alvin....
