I've got a Displaylink USB-HDMI adapter that I'd like to use to hook up an external monitor. My set up includes my laptop monitor, a monitor connected via HDMI, and this 3rd monitor through the Displaylink adapter.

I've done a ton of searching and haven't found any straight forward info. Version 3.5 of the linux kernel in 12.10 supposedly has better support for display link adapters than in previous Ubuntu versions so that is good news.

Does anybody know the solution to getting this set up?

I've also looked for a solution to this issue, since getting a HIS Multi-View II usb-dvi adapter that's also based on the DisplayLink chipset.

when connecting it to a monitor it isn't recognized, as a output device by ubuntu, nor does it go all green as others have reported..
