I am wondering if anyone has tried the new Xandros? Not that I'm looking to move from Ubuntu (nothing will do that!!!) but I am wondering how well it can play games? Not the cheap little games that may come with it, I'm talking things like Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., and the like.

Going over to Xandros to play games? Why not install wintendo on a spare partition? Besides Cedega and WINE works in ubuntu :KS

I think games will work just as well on Xandros as they would on Ubuntu :).

Linux is linux, I don't think games become less playable from distro to distro. But I know for me xandros lacks an important feature... DVD playback (at least legally)...

What distro has legal DVD playback?

Linspire does, and I think Freespire will.

I tried it, but I didn't get to the point where I installed anything. It looked too much like Windows for me (I know, I know ... I could've changed that) and I'm not a big KDE fan (I know, I know ... I could've changed that). There did seem to be a lot of support for things like Photoshop and Office and so forth.

I used to be a diehard Xandros user, but I installed Ubuntu just to try out before I upgraded to Xandros 4. Then I found I couldn't install Xandros over top - Ubuntu's Grub interferes somehow. I've tried everything I can think of to get Xandros to install and it still won't. So I'm stuck with Ubuntu and not finding it too hard to take. It seems at least as friendly as Xandros right out of the box, except that I had to fiddle with fstab to get my Windows partitions to mount. That's fixed and it's running smoothly, so I'm not pursuing the Xandros option any more.
