View Full Version : [ubuntu] strange incoming ip!!

hi all,

been running iftop on my ubuntu server and this ip is always sat at the top of the list

cpe-174-098-074-125.triad.res.rr.com

if it says on the list does that mean its using data?

looks like 40kbs

please help i'm a bit concerned lol

That's not an IP, that's just a long hostname to somebody that has RoadRuner internet. If you have RoadRunner internet, it could be one of your own computers just talking to your server on your network.

ok looks like it's out going to that ip not in coming.

My bad, I see the IP in the hostname. Did a WhoIs on it and it just gave me the info for the RoadRunner company in Kernersville, NC.

roadrunner hmmm i'm with talktalk in the uk. any suggestion on how to find what on my system keeps connection to that address??
