I've been messn' around with ubuntu for the last 2 days and I still can't get it to work on this Mac G4 for the life of me. After realizing I had the wrong Live CD, reburrning the right CD a few times, I finnaly got ubuntu to boot. Then I get to the desktop and it tells me there was an error starting the GNOME settings Deamon (what is that). It says
System excpetion:IDL:omg.org/COBRA/COMM_FAILURE: 1.0
Then it gives me all these errors about how the desktop couldn't be loaded, and all the gnome pannels don't work. And it says something about nautilus (what ever the heck that is) can't work either. So I try restarting it AND IT LOCKS UP. I try to load the live CD again and nothing works. I'm getting really frustrated. I would really appreciate some help. I hear all the time about how linux is such a great operating system, but everything I've experienced so far is pointing toward the contrarry. Thank you in advance for any help.
