Hello,
I have a problem with my Acer aspire 5315 laptop. I have Xubuntu installed and on a certain moment the CPU fan stops spinning around and then the laptop shuts down in several minutes because the CPU is too hot.
Does someone knows here how I can fix this?
Thanks in advance,
digital ownage.

This seems to be an inherent problem with acers. My 5735 overheats a lot, I also would
appreciate any help here.

Research 'load cycle count' and the sysmon package. sysmon (system monitor) should be in the repos so just install it and then figure out how to use it. This will let see what's going on. This is an old and very rare now days problem so that might not be it but worth a shot.

Here's some clues, you might want to refine the search:

... and this will help with sysmon. It's come a long way since I first used it in 8.04 LTS!
