I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed on my computer. When I did the last software upgrade (approximately 3 to 4 weeks ago), the upgrade wiped out my wireless and wired NIC drivers. The result (after the upgrade) was that the driver that was used for the wired NIC caused the internet performance to be pitiful and the wireless NIC was not even functioning! I had to find drivers for both NICs and install them to get them working properly again. How can avoid this disaster again?
