View Full Version : The way things actually are - wealth distribution

I saw an illuminating chart on a website looking at wealth here (http://www2.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html).

The chart shows you the way people think wealth is distributed, the way wealth in fact actually is distributed and the way people believe it ought to be distributed.

Clearly, these three things are very different from each other. The author mentions that the way people think wealth should be distributed is in fact even more egalitarian than in a country like Sweden!

The website contains a lot of other interesting information.

The chart is below.

It would be nice if a python guru could create an on-line, interactive similar chart that would let us use sliders to first ask us how we think wealth is distributed, then show how we think wealth should be distributed (or redistributed). Results could be anonymously recorded and compiled into new charts, displaying the aggregate of what viewers think

Too close to politics - if it isn't actually political.
