View Full Version : [SOLVED] Black screen during Ubuntu Splash Screen

I have been working on installing Ubuntu on my Power Mac G4 using the quantal-alternate-powerpc.iso package for the past few weeks. Tonight the stars were aligned just right and I made it through the preliminary install.

After the CD was kicked out of the machine I held down on Option and booted to Ubuntu. Everything seemed to be going great. Then just a few seconds into the Ubuntu Splash Screen, a line of text pops on the screen for a split second. This was so fast I went back to try and read it, but I can't. And then the screen goes black and only my mouse is visible.

I have searched topics and I have found plenty of help with black screens, just not at the point I am having the problems. They all seem to come earlier. Would anyone have any ideas on this?

I am NOT good with terminal stuff, as the Linux system is new to me. If you have a solution, I would greatly appreciate it. However, you will need to hold my hand on this one and walk me through step by step.
