June numbers from Top500 project. The Operating System Family breakdown shows Linux is the OS for 70% of the fastest 500 supercomputer projects.
Under "Statistics", click "Operating System":

Well, what else would be worth it (cost, and reliablity wise). A BSD might be good also (long uptime, I hear).

I don't care if it's Linux or *BSD as long as it's FOSS and they are happy with it. But sure it's nice with Linux power :D

Yeah, there are a few BSD ones in there too.
The part I laughed about is this:
Linux systems in the top 500: 351
Microsoft systems in the top 500: 2

Not surprising, most of the other 30% probably consists of other unix OS's.
