The unofficial bottom launcher Compiz plug-in was not updated for 12.04 or 64 bit.

The launcher is immovable, although it can be set to "auto-hide" if you want.

With today's widescreen monitors it makes more sense for the launcher to be on one of the sides, rather than waste precious vertical space.

I dont know of any way to move the Unity launcher to the bottom in 12.04. If you really must have it then I would suggest Cairo-dock + mac theme and then set the unity launcher to hide.

If you install Cairo dock you can select their DE and not even have to mess with the hide feature of unity and put the bar wherever you want

After installing cairo dock, it will be added as a "session" on your log in menu and if you select it, you will get the same auto hide top panel like you have on your unity session, but no unity dock on the left and just the cairo dock on the bottom...since unity is difficult to place on the bottom, this might be the best option for you...
