Curious here. I'm thinking of trying a few other versions. I need to download some more live CD's and test the waters a bit.

But what have you found to be your version of choice?

In Windows, I've used XP for years. Switched to Vista for a week or two, switched back to XP until last week when I finally moved to Linux after years of thinking about it.

EDIT: speaking of Linux... why limit to Ubuntu. What Linux version have you found best to date?

WAY too true. So let's divide it into classes:

Old P4 with say a 1.8GHz
Average Dual Core AMD Athlon
Flyin fast cutting edge that doesn't exist until next spring

I'm enjoying 12.04 right now and will do a fresh install of 12.12 on my primary machine here in October.

You should divide it by Video drivers if your doing that. :p
