View Full Version : Xubuntu : 32bit or 64bit?

Alright so I finally decided to go with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit since I already have experience with it with my Dad's powerful gaming PC (Core i5 2500K (3.4GHz X 4), 16GB, Nvidia 520TI).

Though I'm still uneasy about 64bit Linux since my last experience with it was slow and agonizing (Ubuntu 9.04 x64). I know that things have changed since then so I'm thinking of trying Xubuntu 12.04LTS x64

So my questions are, is there any noticable improvement in performance over 32bit? And is 64bit stable enough to use for everyday tasks as well as Emulation, WINE, and Virtual Machines?

BTW Here's my specs in case anyone asks

Moved to Recurring.

My opinion, if you have 64-bit hardware, take full advantage of it using 64-bit software.

If your machine is capable of running a 64-bit OS then there is no reason not to.
