Hi,
I've read in other forums about issues with Nvidia video and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?

Most say if you revert to 2D the GUI works fine?

I'm just trying to launch Linux for a look see on my HP laptop off of the UNetBootin Stick before taking the leap of an install. I figure I fiddle with a file on the memory stick and can get past this video driver making the GUI unusable.

ubuntu 12.04 lts
AMD tl-56 1.8Ghz 64 x2
960 MB
nvidia geforce go 6150

I've seen that advice before, but the gui is so cranked, I have no idea how to get to the "cmd" prompt??

cmd prompt? I suppose you mean terminal. Ctrl+alt+t is the shortcut for terminal.

Regards.
