Hey, everyone. Because I was having a bit of trouble detangling the information on the "way to change the brightness of a sony vaio" on ubuntu, once I did get it all sorted out, I decided to write an article about on the ubuntu wiki.
Changing the brightness of a Sony VAIO in Ubuntu. (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Changing_the_brightness_of_a_sony_VAIO)
I'm not going to cross-post it here, but I'm making a post about it in the forums just so it'll show up in a search of the forums. The various information on the sonypi modules, proc, and spicctrl was quite a diverse mess, so I've put it all together into a neat little guide there.
If you're one of the few people it helps out, feel free to post a 'thank you' here (I'd be delighted :) ). If it doesn't work for you, feel free to post it here. But note that this isn't a thread for general BIOS Q&A. I know lots of VAIO users have trouble with getting their hotkeys and Fn keys to work, but this isn't the place to ask those questions, kay?
Anyway, so that's all. The documentation for this is scattered and often confusing (especially for those that spicctrl doesn't help), so here's what I believe to be a fully functional version.
