Where modem driver?

Hi,
I know this seems to sound very newby (I am) but I am trying to configure the modem so I cannot use the apt tool. I have been looking for the modem driver in the repository but I couldnt find it. Do anybody know how to get it without the apt tool?

Visit www.linmodems.org and copy Scanmodem.gz to a floppy.

Boot Ubuntu and copy the file to your home directory.

Open up a console and do:
gunzip ScanModem.gz
sudo ./ScanModem
and post the resulting modemdata file that is created (copy it back to the floppy)

then kernel-sources must be prepared as described in Modem/DriverCompiling.txt
before the hsfmodem driver compiling can be successfull.
For recent kernel-source-2.4.6 ,configuration steps are not necessary.

With respect to software support there are two main types, hcfpcimodem* and hsfmodem* .
