I recently bought two monitors, and they both have built in speakers. Is it possible to have left channel audio come out of both speakers on the left monitor, and right channel audio come out of both speakers on the right monitor?

This is what my audio ports look like...
Green = Front
Back = Rear
Orange = Center
Blue = Line In
Red = Microphone

FL = Front Left
FR = Front Right
RL = Rear Left
RR = Rear Right
CEN = Center

I have...
Monitor 1 Monitor2
FL FR RL RR

I want...
Monitor 1 Monitor2
FL FL FR FR

Or even better, but maybe not possible...
Monitor 1 Monitor2
FL CEN CEN FR

Thank you.

I assume the speakers on the monitors connect using a standard 3.5mm (headphone) plug?

If they are USB, then I have no idea.

If they are 3.5mm, you can find all that you need at radio shack.

There you can get adapters to make the single stereo output on your sound card, into 2 mono outputs (left and right)

Then you can reverse the process by having the mono output go to a mono to stereo adapter, then into the monitor.

There is probably a way to do the center channel too, but you might need a lot of adapters :)

There may be a software solution too, but I doubt you could get it setup exactly how you want it.

Get 1 of these...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/eForCity+-+1/8+3.5mm+Mini+Plug+to+2+RCA+Stereo+Audio+Cable+-+6Ft+-+Black/4595818.p?id=1218492483208&skuId=4595818&st=rca%20cable&cp=3&lp=10
(plug in into your sound card)

Then get 2 of these...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26%23153%3B+-+RCA+Y+Audio+Adapter/9784802.p?id=1218174133750&skuId=9784802&st=rca%20splitter&cp=1&lp=10
(use them to convert your 2 plugs into 4, so there are 2 left's and 2 right's)

Then 2 of these...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Hosa+Technology+-+3.5mm+TRS-to-Dual+RCAF+Cable/8559945.p?id=1208562112770&skuId=8559945
(Use them to convert your 2 left rca's into a stereo 3.5mm jack, and plug it into your left monitor)
repeat for right monitor.

This is assuming your monitors have a 3.5mm input jack.

You can obviously mix and match to come up with something you like more.

But you should get the concept from the above.

If you want to, you can get the center channel setup working too, but you would need more adapters.

I do not think all this can be accomplished with software, or at lease not plausibly.

But I am pretty confident that my mess of adapters will do the trick.

Lol. I guess in computer science you tend to forget that there are ways of doing things by hand. I would like to see if there is a .conf file that I could change before I go out and buy all of these wires. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

I'm not so sure in this case.

I wont say its impossible.

But it does not seem very plausible.
(especially the center channel)

Let me know if you do figure it out though.
Sounds like a great plan as far as taking advantage of all your speakers, and their placement.
