hello

I did as shantiq said. vlc sounds great and easy.

However I get no 'red' record button, mine is greyed out. The radio is streaming so what gives.

also is there some secret to finding a way to get a new thread started. Every time I come here I have the darnedest time finding where to start a new thread.

thank you.

Open any sub forum, the "New Thread" button is right there at top - Ex. this sub forum

Post the url or however you are using vlc to play the station

rabbit you need to go to VLC

click on view/advanced control then you will see red button:KS

=========

also if you listen to more than one station you might enjoy adding this to your VLC

220492 you can do it this way (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1774325)

PS ask for clearer explanations if needed

PS 2 for yourself and anyone else: just found a list of 320 kbps radio stations here (http://192kbps.internet-radio-guide.net/radio-stations/320-kbps.html) for any of you radio audiophiles

hello all,

shantiq, thanks for the help. I listen to several stations when I can. Classical, New Age, Folk, actually there are only a few I dislike.

I got the link at Internet Radio Guide looks good.

I have been going over the vlc guides (there are several).

I am have trouble with the streaming I wanted.

In "Documentation: Play HowTo/Basic Use/Playlist" They are giving instructions on things that do not show up in my vlc.

In the playlist I have 'Playlist', 'Media Library' and 'IceCast output' no more. But, the instructables list a lot more including 'Local Network' and 'Internet'.

Also, when I click on or double click on the 'IceCast output' I do not get the radio stations that should show in the display pane.

Hope this is not too long winded. I will keep going over the 'instructables'.

Thanks again, great community.

I used to have a cron job that used wget to get my favorite talk show every day.

So if you can figure out how to record that station with wget you can schedule it that way.

Or possible mencoder might do it too and then you can output it in any format.
