this is my 1st time on linux and im trying to find a game to test how well my vid card works in ubuntu, is there one i can download through synaptic....or some other easy way, i dont know what im doing-be nice.

Or for something simpler, smaller and in the repositories - how about tuxracer or neverball?

when i try to run tuxracer or neverball nothing happens, do i need to enable something?

Yes. You need to enable 3D acceleration on your card plus driver.

One thing that is good to know is a lot of games will already be listed in synaptic package manager and they will be very easy to install
plus if there is a windows game that you must have and it's not for linux you should check out wine. it can play some windows games.
