Hi, I have Dell Vostro 3350 laptop. Yesterday I tried upgrade kernel to 3.4.2 version. After restart my external keyboard (logitech), wireless mouse and even video card (intel hd graphics) was not working. I used this tutorial: http://www.upubuntu.com/2012/06/how-to-install-kernel-342-under-ubuntu.html

And yes I'm using 64bit and followed 64bit upgrade steps.

So do you still want to use the same kernel? Or do you want to know if you can downgrade, which you can.

I have downgraded, but it would be nice to use newer kernel.. and i wonder why that happened :/

Sorry for my english :/

Ubuntu doesn't use the exact kernel in the official repository. I assume that they modify it based on Ubuntu's need and package it so that the user doesn't have to compile it themselves. Ubuntu is some what more structured than other distro's so using a raw kernel can produce troublesome results. Just like the warning the page you link stated.

how you see it using Ubuntu v3.4.2-quantal kernel but i don't think it should give me errors like i had :/
