The keyboard on my AMD, (with 12.04, 32 bit) desktop will not type beyond 4 letters or respond to any keystrokes at all (Esc, Ctrl, Backspace etc) when i click in certain fields on the 'Net. I haven't been able to tell yet why it works on certain fields but not others. Is this a problem with my keyboard or with something else?

It does start typing after I click on the field again with the mouse, and it also starts responding to other keystrokes after that.

Hello. Try other keyboard, if it still won't work than I don't know. But if you can write in terminal, try this :

Does it stop at 4 characters if you type in a text editor?
Does it stop at 4 characters on all websites?
Are you running NoScript or a similar add on?
Does the site contain elements that require the Oracle Java browser plug in?
