View Full Version : Issues compiling atk-2.4.0 - GLIB - version >= 2.31.2... no

Greetings:

I am installing this library needed for GTK from source, named atk-2.4.0, i have already installed all prior dependencies, and in this case the one that marks as inexistent is GLIB

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.31.2... no
configure: error:
*** GLIB 2.31.2 or better is required. The latest version of
*** GLIB is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/. If GLIB is installed
*** but not in the same location as pkg-config add the location of the file
*** glib-2.0.pc to the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH.

The thing is, i already configured said paths, exported them and even checked for the running version:

$ echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH
/opt/glib/lib/pkgconfig
$ echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/opt/glib/lib/pkgconfig
$ pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0
2.32.3
As you can see it is a version higher than what the configure expects. Is there anything i can do to solve this problem?

Regards.

We don't even know what the problem is... There is probably a message delling you to look in config.log for more details, so look in config.log.

Here is the config.log, hoping it helps.

This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by atk configure 2.4.0, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.68. Invocation command line was

Looks like it doesn't pick your value of PKG_CONFIG_PATH for some reason... Try with

./configure PKG_CONFIG_PATH="/opt/glib/lib/pkgconfig"

It worked halfway... but this time around it said that the PKG-CONFIG marked i had 2.32.3 version of Glib but the system detected 2.32.1 ( which is true because thats the one Ubuntu uses, hence i installed said Glib in an alternative directory for them not to conflict).

I gave up on the thing, but, when i woke up this morning, i saw 25 updates in the update manager and guess what i found there? OFFICIAL GLIB UPDATE FOR UBUNTU.

What a coincidence eh? i gave the exact path to the glib-2.0.pc file in opt because it still looked for it, but after that i was able to install the atk libraries. your idea to place the path of said directory in the ./configure procedure was the one that did it.. Thanks alot !
