Hi,

The thread closed here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12018152#post12018152

I will ask it simply:

-Google Chrome sends privacy informations to google
-Iron does not send
-Chromium does?

Thanks!

This is an opt-in setting, and you can opt out any time you like.

I've been using Chrome for a couple of years. I'm not aware that anything bad has resulted.

Still, anyone who is paranoid about Big Brother would not be using it.

If I am not mistaken Chrome and others that send in surfing data send in "anonymous statistical information" that is used mainly to determine content for that IP. Not the person. For example if that IP address views computer related hardware in southern United States, then you may see many Newegg or similar advertising banners and you will not be seeing advertisements for Flower Shops in China.. They dont track who "you" are. Only what the IP address views. So if the information was used badly, only the IPs in that area are viewing. If its that big of a deal. Just unplug your cable modem often and when it comes back up it should get a random new IP address unless yours is set to Static.

That's been around for years. Things have changed but much of that page hasn't.

Common! Chromium is Open Source! Even if he reads and sends data out there, they are not hiding anything!

Much of what Iron doesn't include privacy wise can be disabled in Chrome anyway . I see no real advantage using Iron . Chromium and Iron have no user metrics option and this can be disabled in Chrome . Chrome , Iron , and Chromium all run well for me. I am using Chrome but keep the Iron .deb in downloads . You have to do your own update checks with Iron also.

Chrome does send reports to google.
Chromium does not.
Iron does not.

I have both Chrome and Chromium, it does not really affect you when google is getting reports, as they are just a crash reports. Iron is a lousy piece of old junk, it is the same as chromium only with less features, quite dumb.
