View Full Version : [kubuntu] W520, nVidia 'not started' after reboot

Since mid March I run Kubuntu 12.04 on a Thinkpad W520 with dual Intel and nVidia graphics.

I was successful installing Bumblebee so I can invoke the power of the nVidia driver when booted in the Optimus environment.
The (UEFI BIOS) on this computer only allows the use of a single screen when in Optimus (or Integrated = Intel) mode which is fine as I only use a second monitor when on mains power.

When still on the 12.04 beta I could also start up in Discrete nVidia(UEFI BIOS) mode and select the second monitor, no problems to switch.

But since a couple of weeks the nVidia driver is no longer detected when booted in Discrete Graphics.
Jockey does tell me the driver is installed but 'not started'.
I can reinstall the driver but when restarted I am faced with the same issue...

I get around it by reinstalling and then logging out and in again, now I get the properly running nVidia driver.
Until the next reboot...

Any hints are appreciated!
