I have installed ubuntu 12.04 64 bit on my laptop HP Probook 4420s. Sometimes wifi get connected and sometimes it just tried to connect but did not get connected. Following are the information as par http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6183681 post which i fetch when wifi did not get connected.

I have the same problem, same computer (Probok 4420s).

The problem seems to be with encryption (it has no issues with unsecured networks). The network I'm trying to connect to is using 'WPA2 Personal' mode with the 'TKIP' algorithm. Are both of you trying to connect to a network with the same encryption types?

The consensus on other threads (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1608989) and forums (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=70466) seems to be to install the latest brodcom driver (http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php).

Unfortunately, even though I have the same computer (probook 4420s) my witless card is different: Atheros AR9285 PCI Express (rev 01) which is making me think it's actually a power management issue.
