Hi,
Just trying the live DVD. Does anyone know if Suse has an equivalent of Synaptic?

You can use apt-get in Suse! Try googling for apt4rpm.
Otherwise, YaST can be used for package management, similar to Synaptic.

I second this. It is very user friendly and it handles dependencies much better then any package management system out there. Does anyone know if it works on Dapper ?

IIRC it may be introduced in Edgy, replacing apt.

having difficulty installing Flock. i get as far as downloading and untarring the .tar.gz file. I see there is a folder called flock with alot of stuff in it.
But i see no README or INSTALL to get further instructions. I tried ./ run mozilla.sh or whatever it was called but that aint worked either.
Can you or someone tell me how to complete this process
thank you

I don't mind you asking in this thread but you may get more replies with a topic that reflects your problem :)
I have to say I am liking the professional look of Suse very much. I tried KDE on Ubuntu yesterday and didn't like the feel at all, I thought this was just KDE but then I tried KDE on Suse and I liked it a lot - so much so that I am considering using Suse with KDE instead of Ubuntu and Gnome!

Suse is a very polished and stable distro. I can't say I'm a fan of YaST due to the slowness and how processor intensive it is. Suse has the best art and fonts that's for sure...
Media support is annoying though. It's easier to get mp3s, wmvs, and quicktime working out of the box with Ubuntu.. I believe Suse 10.2 is switching to Smart instead of YaST too, so I'm going to wait until then.
