View Full Version : [ubuntu] Closing lid blanks external display

I'm having problem with my Compaq minilaptop. I'm using it as a media server with Ubuntu 12.04. There is an external display which is in use and laptop's own display is turned off.

In power saving settings I have marked "Do nothing" when lid is closed. But when I close the lid, it turns off the external display.

In Ubuntu 11.04 it worked perfectly well and didn't blank external display when power saving setting were set to "Do nothing" when lid is closed.

It is really irritating now that I have to keep that laptop open when I want watch TV or videos. I hope there is somekind of solution for this problem.

I have exactly the same problem.

This bug is the closest report I found: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/990908

There seems to be quite a few people hitting the issue:

But no solution found yet that I know of..
