I am new to ubuntu and I like linux but have encountered driver issues...

I am in the market for a netbook and want to make sure I buy one whose hardware components will work without too much fuss after installing ubuntu 12.04. Does anyone know of any? Perhaps there's some sort of resource where one can simply lookup this sort of information? I can't be the first to need it.

Thank you for your help.

Would you have the ability to boot a Ubuntu live USB flash drive in a new netbook you are about to buy? Some places will let you do this. That way you can see for yourself how Ubuntu works on the hardware.

Just explain to the store that your flash drive will not modify the hard drive at all - it will run entirely from the USB drive and when you shut it down, they can boot Windows again.

If you want to play it really save, Ubuntu maintains a list of certified systems and there are also a couple of netbooks included.

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe when I get used to this, I'll be more brave, but I'm dealing (or not dealing) now with a laptop I have to boot into windows to use the wifi...

Start a separate thread on the type of laptop you have, what kind of wireless card it has, etc. to see how to get your wireless card to work in Ubuntu.

Thank you. I will do that. This is my second question here and the second time I got the answer.
