I have a full install of Xubuntu 12.04. After updating today via the automatic update system I have hit a horrible snag. First time of loading Thunar after a re-boot takes up to a minute! Previously, it was next to instant. Subsequent executions are instant until I re-boot, then the problem is back again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong? 1gig ram, 1.6 gig dual core processor, loads of disk space.

Have a look at thunars network interactions.

Have a look at thunars network interactions.

OK, not sure how to do that but Thunar is listing a Windows network in my shortcuts, but I do not have Windows installed on this PC. I seem unable to remove it. When I start Thunar as root, it does not show. Do you think this is the problem? Is Thunar searching for a non-existent Win Net?

UPDATE about 15 seconds later, a second thunar window opens without being called.

Thanks so much for this. Duh... FAQ, who would have guessed. I figured the problem was too obscure for FAQ!
Thanks to you both again......
