I was installing 12.04 on an older pc of mine and the installer stalled when checking hardware. I swithed to the console and noticed the installer kept looping on a usb device. It kept assigning it new adresses. At said time, I had no usb devices attached, so I suspect this is due to a damaged usb port (I have noticed one port refuses to work). Is there any way to work around this?

Maybe actually plugging in an usb device would solve this? Just guessing.. ;)

Mine appears to be stalling on a USB port as well. But, all 4 of my USB ports are working so I do not understand why.
