I have raid 10 array of 4 disks which is used for data. Computer is booted from other disk.

I am tracking error which caused computer to hang completely. Anything that I have was "Kernel panic" message on console and after that error about writing to one of the disks in array.

After restart array is working without problems. Although I know this is probably not OK.

Can this scenario make kernel panic and can it be avoided. Disks are sata and smartmontools can cause array to fail. This is what I have already learned ;-(
