I notice the ISO images are now (since 11.10) usable on flash drives (direct dd to whole device). I've been making images like that since 8.04. But my method was different. I see that these new images have an HPFS/NTFS filesystem as partition 1. What is that for? Is it something for WIndows?

FYI, I just did an install this way, using a USB memory stick with the Xubuntu desktop amd64 image on it. Works fine. So I no longer need to make the ones I did.
