Any help out there would be most appreciated.
i have purchased the above usb device which apparently uses a bt878 chip??? and can be used with zoneminder.
i have plugged the device in and it shows up with lsusb but when i try to fire up xawtv or the v4l test utility there is basically no /dev/video* loaded
This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/i686 (3.0.0-17-generic)
xinerama 0: 1024x768+0+0
can't open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available
i guess the driver needs to be loaded and assigned somehow although i am unsure as to how to go about this as pretty new to linux and ubuntu
