Install gnome tweak tool which is the advance settings or myunity.

You can also use Myunity, which is in the repositories.

Thanks, will look.

But why is something so basic as font sizes not a basic part anymore of the default install?

Not all of have a big monitor, nor have 20-20 vision!

Also you can make the text size bigger with System Settings>Universal Access.

Well, what about font type and bold and italic, then?

Plus, this shouldn't be in the section for the disabled/impaired/whatever - it should be in the main display configuration area...

OK, that is good. A workaround. But the question remains why this is not enabled by default anymore?

Please direct your question to the Gnome developers, as it has nothing to do with Unity.

You can ask your question on the desktop-devel mailing list (http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/desktop-devel-list)

OK, but the default is Unity, not Gnome, correct? So it is a Unity issue then; thus a 12.04 question.

I prefer some large, some small, some bold and some italic on the desktop and in the applications thereof.

Is this no longer possible by default in Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is based on Gnome 3/GTK-3, Canonical/Ubuntu has added some functionality back that the Gnome developers have removed.

Letīs not forget that we can change our desktop environment at any moment in Ubuntu, in order to increase the level of customization. If oneīs wants to change that, we are just a click away.

Thatīs why Ubuntu is about choice and in this particular case, easy choice.

No not any more. Gnome tweak or MyUnity as mentioned above.
