The thing I'd really like to see in 12.04 (or 12.10) would be a system app that lets the user easily set up their printer scanner. It could be built in to the current printer gui, or stand-alone.

Having the printer ui makes installing a printer so easy, but without a scanner app it makes setting up so difficult for most users - particularly newbies.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I've never had issues using Xsane for the scanner part of my all-in-one. Might be because mine's many years old, but still.

Same here with Xsane and Simple Scan, and that's across the network!
