View Full Version : [SOLVED] Dual Display - KDE ok - UNITY fails

March 27th, 2012, 04:28 PM
Dual screen ..... not possible yet ......

UNITY treats them as one screen yet identifies two outputs ....... ( default setting wrong here IMHO )

On this same machine in the same 12.04 KDE ..... picks them up perfectly ......

( Top right icon = display .....
a different monitor setting in there but still only sees one display - will post a screen shot shortly of the other setting for display ..... )

Seems to be using a different program to try to set the monitors up .... anyone else
experience this ..... this was a kubuntu install .....

so maybe UNITY cannot be installed with it ?

To get dual monitors working for UNITY is there another option maybe .... ?

Yet I can set both displays up separately in KDE

Got it turn off mirror displays ..... why would you set default to mirror displays ..... seems wrong

not a lot of info on what you can do here ...... but to move above drag and drop .....

Problem was using KDE settings in Unity ....... does not work ......

I use dual displays with Unity and it works as it should. I disable mirroring and sticky edges as well as set the Unity launcher to be only visible on one screen.

Before I used to set things up in the amdcccle for my ATI card, but I have not touched it lately

Cheers ....

Where do I find the option to put Unity on one screen .... ?

Should that be in Display Settings or Screen settings / layout ?

or is it in Compiz settings .... will have a look now .....

Thanks as that is one thing I will need .... also why don't I see any wallpapers
they are all installed for KDE ..... yet there only seems to be one choice in UNITY.

The launcher position settings can be found in System Settings > Displays. There is a drop down menu for Launcher Placement

From your screenshots it seems to be missing, have you upgraded your system lately or are the shots old?

The Unity addition to KDE was done the day before yesterday ..... but the 12.04
KDE install was done a week or so back.

Will try a

aptitude safe-upgrade

upgrade went well and the other options are now there ty

Thanks for the information
