hi,
i've been making some wallpapers on inkscape, but when i tried to post one on the ubuntu forums art gallery i was told that svg wasn't an acceptable format.
seems a bit of a shame to me. i've got ubuntu 6.06 on my pc and it has no problems using svg wallpapers. svgs are way more useful than pixel based art and in this case the svg was less than a seventh of the size of the png that i had to send instead.
the only problem i can see is that people wouldn't be able to see what it looked like before they downloaded it, but this could be avoided by stipulating that svgs must be accompanied by a pixel based thumbnail for viewing on the website.
sound reasonable?
