Automatic updates?

Hi,
When installing Ubuntu Server I notice the option to install automatic updates.

- How often does it look for new updates and when are they applied?
- Is there any way of configuring the timeframe?
- IS it easy to enable/disable afterwards?

Searching google gives me a kind of "rough" guide...

AFAIK it only does essential security patches. It's really not recommended, because what if an update breaks something? I'd rather be there while the upgrade is taking place to deal with it at that time.
