I have 5 pieces of a single map that fit together like a puzzle. 5 tiff files. Can anybody tell me how to connect them and to create a single map/file? thanks.:P

personally, I'd use Inkscape, because I'm good at masking in it.

You, and many others, won't know how to do this, so you might be better off with Gimp.

If the images are very large, use imagemagick, I think it's called; a terminal based image editor, that's powerful as hell.

Can you display a screenshot of the tiff files you want to put together .....

possibly hugin panorama stitcher (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/) as it will automatically try to find the best fit ....

I did it once on a circular map that I found in the countryside on a stone table top.

If its similar to this it can be done in stages.
